The 21st Learning and Intelligent OptimizatioN Conference (LION21)
14-17 June 2027, Barcelona, Spain
This scientific meeting explores the intersections and uncharted territories between machine learning, artificial intelligence, operations research, meta-heuristics and related fields. It continues the successful series of LION events started more than 20 years ago (latest editions LION20 @ Milano, Italy; LION19 @ Prague,Czech Republic; LION18 @ Ischia, Italy; LION17 @ Nice, France). The LION conference series is run by the non-profit LION Association. The LION Manifesto articulates the research areas that are most relevant for the conference. Novel contributions are welcomed from both theory and practice perspectives.
Topics of Interest
Applications of such topics in economics, energy, environmental sciences, healthcare, management, robotics and other real-world areas are welcomed.
All times are Anywhere on Earth (AoE).
To recognize the value of interacting with outstanding experts, LION Extended Talks traditionally consist of two parts: a tutorial introduction followed by a state-of-the-art segment with a Q&A session. These speakers and their talk abstracts will be posted here.
Types of Submissions
When submitting a paper to LION21, choose one of the following three types of papers:
For full papers (long or short), the page count is including references, but excluding any appendices.
Please note that the review process for LION21 is single blind. Authors do not need to make their submissions anonymous.
Paper Format & Submission
Please prepare your paper in English using the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) template, available from Springer.
Papers may be submitted in PDF format via Easychair. The submission link will be provided here by 1 December.
Please note that submission of a paper implies that at least one author will register for the conference by the early registration deadline, and be present in person at LION21 to present the paper.
Proceedings
Papers accepted into the LION21 proceedings will be published in Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) by Springer.
It is LION tradition that conference proceedings be published after the conference, so that authors can incorporate any comments received during the event into the final version. Only an online preprint (in PDF) will be made available to the participants in the conference website if the authors decide to make it available.
Special Track of ACM Transactions on Evolutionary Learning and Optimization (TELO)
NEWS: LION this year will offer a fast-track for publishing in ACM Transactions on Evolutionary Learning and Optimization (TELO), in addition to our standard proceedings in Lecture Notes in Computer Science. Authors of accepted papers will be informed about the ACM TELO fast track in due course.
In addition to submissions about general LION themes, we also welcome submissions related to one of our special sessions. The special sessions will be part of the regular conference and are subject to the same peer-review as all other submissions. Details will be posted here. Please address proposals for special sessions to the TPC Chair: Neil Yorke-Smith - n.yorke-smith(AT)tudelft.nl, with CC: roberto.battiti(AT)unitn.it.
